How Individual Chat Locking Works
Locking restricts opening specific threads until you authenticate.
How to Lock a Chat
Long-press a conversation or use GB Settings → Privacy → Chat lock (labels vary). Set an authentication method when prompted.
How to Open or Unlock a Protected Chat
Tap the thread and enter your PIN/biometric. Some builds hide locked chats until you search the contact name.
What If the Lock Option Is Missing?
Update from a trusted source or confirm the feature list for your version.
Chat Lock Limitations and Privacy Considerations
Locks do not encrypt backups by default. Device access still exposes media in shared galleries unless separately protected.
